New Resources
Here’s what’s new in Cybersecurity Club this week…
#1 TryHackMe Penetration Testing Path
An immersive learning platform featuring over 30 interactive rooms dedicated to penetration testing methodologies. The curriculum progresses from fundamental concepts to advanced techniques, covering OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities, network enumeration, exploit development, and post-exploitation strategies. Each module contains practical lab environments where you can apply tools like Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Nmap against vulnerable targets. The path includes guided walkthroughs for beginners and increasingly challenging CTF-style exercises for experienced users. Completion earns a certificate recognized by many cybersecurity employers.
#2 CompTIA Security+ SY0-701 Training Course
This extensive 25-hour video series delivers comprehensive coverage of the latest Security+ certification exam.
The instructor methodically addresses all six exam domains: threats and vulnerabilities, architecture and design, implementation, operations and incident response, governance, and cryptography.
Each video segment includes real-world scenarios, practical demonstrations, and exam-focused tips. The playlist features interactive elements where viewers can test their knowledge against sample questions. This resource is particularly valuable for IT professionals seeking to validate their security expertise through industry-recognized certification.
#3 Portable Kali Linux Pen Testing Tool
Members are discussing building a Kali Linux pentesting tool out of an Organge Pi or Raspberry Pi. The goal is to build a portable penetration testing tool using either the Orange Pi Zero 2W or Raspberry Pi 2W, configured to run Kali Linux.
The device will serve as a compact and versatile hacking platform, capable of executing various pen testing functions like BadUSB attacks and WiFi deauthentication. The project aims to offer a fully featured, standalone system with a user-friendly interface.
Options and Links:
Orange Pi Zero 2W:
Affordable and offers 4GB RAM model, beneficial for multitasking.
Recommended to use Armbian for better driver support.
Raspberry Pi 2W:
More stable support and community resources.
Suitable for users wanting reliability and easier troubleshooting.
These options provide a foundation for developing a robust pen testing device, with varying levels of support and performance.

Might want to try that portable Kali on a mini-PC. Some of those go for under $150 and pack more punch than a Raspberry Pi. I'm planning to put the Ludus (Proxmox based) computer security lab on my Beelink SER5, with a Ryzen 7 with 8 CPUs, 16 threads, once I upgrade the RAM to 64GB and install a larger 2TB NVME SSD to hold additional VMs. Just to run Kali with "everything" would take a much smaller mini-PC than that.
